As a parent in the Provo district, I have found that my trips to the library with my kindergartner have turned from encouraging a love of literature into a battle against attractive digital devices. My son, like many other children, is drawn to the gaming tablets and Minecraft computers visibly present in the children's wing of our local library.

As parents, we already face daily challenges of limiting our children's screen time. It is sad to see this issue extend to a place dedicated to fostering a love for literature.

We are proud of the Provo library. We love taking our children there. It is well-organized, full of enriching events, programs, and activities. We respect the library's effort to modernize and attract a variety of young visitors. 

However, we ask that it continue to be an enriching place by relocating the gaming devices to a more discreet location. Currently, they are placed in the center of the children’s wing of the library, which is too distracting and visible to young readers. This hinders our children’s opportunity to explore books because their time and attention is divided, which defeats the purpose of a library visit.

Help us gain back more purposeful and peaceful visits. Help us refocus children’s full attention on the enriching resources of the library.

Join us in our plea to the Provo Public Library to relocate the gaming devices by signing this petition.
