I live right next to the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Del Valle, TX. What used to be a 4-minute drive from down the street to my house now takes me 30 minutes to an hour due to traffic congestion caused by COTA events. The sight of poor animals, victims of road accidents, is heart-wrenching. The roads are deteriorating under heavy traffic and litter from event attendees is becoming a significant issue.

Beyond these immediate inconveniences lies a larger environmental concern. Noise pollution from COTA events disrupts local wildlife while greenhouse gas emissions contribute negatively towards our climate crisis. Moreover, construction for COTA has led to a reduction in green spaces which are vital for maintaining local biodiversity.

Relocating COTA out of Del Valle and into urban areas could alleviate these issues significantly. Urban areas are better equipped with infrastructure that can handle large-scale events like those hosted at COTA without causing such drastic changes in daily life for residents or harming local ecosystems.

We must prioritize our environment and quality of life over entertainment venues that can be located elsewhere with less impact on residential communities and natural habitats.
