Release the Full Evidence in the Henry Nowak & Vickrum Digwa Case
The Issue
A recent Sunday Times article reported that Hampshire Police initially considered portraying Henry Nowak as the aggressor following his death, before changing course after objections from his family.
Whether true or not, this raises important questions about how the events surrounding this case have been presented to the public and highlights the need for transparency as a matter of public interest.
The public has been shown distressing bodycam footage of the aftermath of the incident. But what about the events leading up to it? Reports indicate that Henry Nowak filmed Vickrum Digwa shortly before the fatal confrontation. Yet this footage has not been released, despite widespread public debate about what happened that night.
This petition is not about declaring anyone innocent or guilty. It is not about attacking Henry Nowak's family. It is about transparency.
A justice system that asks the public to trust its conclusions should be willing to release relevant evidence wherever legally possible, particularly in cases that have generated significant public interest and controversy. The release of pre-incident footage could provide important context, reduce speculation, and strengthen public confidence in the justice system.
If the footage can be released lawfully, it should be.
We also request that images of the other knife reportedly carried by Digwa be released where legally possible. Given the public debate surrounding the Kirpan and Sikh religious freedoms, making these images available would help clarify the facts and improve public understanding of the legal distinctions made during the case.
We call on Hampshire Police and the relevant authorities to release all pre-incident footage and evidence relating to this case wherever legally possible.
Release the evidence. Let the public see the full picture.
