Most of us have a loved one who is serving time in prison for breaking the law in one for or another. I agree they deserve to be there if they are guilty of such crime, however, this isn’t just another average day in time. We are facing a very serious threat to our existence and are life’s as we know it are being turned upside down and threatened by the novel Corona Virus. We are all at risk and it’s put us all in danger, but especially the inmates serving time in prison, locked away and forced to be at even greater risk everyday as they pray they don’t get sick from their cell mates who have become infected. They are being deprived of protection and denied what every human is entitled too, being safe and having the ability to protect themselves from getting the virus. They are forced to be cell mates with infected inmates. Given tiny bottle of hand soap and a face mask. And that’s IT...... I feel very strongly that it is only right and the humane thing to do for those inmates that meet major standards, be released as long as they are not violent, sex offenders, who are gang affiliated and are not on death row and aren’t serving a life sentence, should be released. Especially those who have a stable, safe place to go when released. They are human beings just like the rest of us, and they deserve a fighting chance to survive this epidemic just as much as the rest of humanity. Not to mention, a ton of those inmates, are innocent and wrongfully charged and serving sentences for things they didn’t even do..... and some may in fact be guilty, but not of anything as serious as murder or rape or child abuse!? They are guilty of nothing more than drug charges, which lets be real, the government is just as guilty when it comes to drug trafficking...... most of the dope on the streets came from someone that works for the government..... Is I that really fair that the prisoners get to suffer and die in prison, alone, and locked away like animals for something that more than 1/2 of the population is guilty of!? Or something ridiculous like GTA!? If they aren’t violent, sexual offenders, gang affiliated, on death row or sentenced to life, they need to be released, even if it’s only temporary. Please, sign this petition if you have a heart and agree. Put yourself in their shoes, I already know, you would want to have a fighting chance to survive just like they do. Just like they have the right to.
