On the morning of July 29th, our lives were turned upside down when my dad was taken into ICE custody. My father is a dedicated, hardworking man who has spent the majority of his life in the United States, yet he was unable to secure residency due to the complexities of immigration laws. He has not committed any crimes; he is a good, honest man who deserves the right to continue supporting his three children and wife.

My dad's story is one that resonates with many families across America. According to the American Immigration Council, the average wait time for family-sponsored immigrants ranges from five to twenty-three years, leaving many families, like mine, in a state of uncertainty and fear.
