Release Eugene Genius, Wrongfully Convicted and Eager to Rejoin Society

Release Eugene Genius, Wrongfully Convicted and Eager to Rejoin Society
The Issue
This urgent petition is born from a deeply personal pain rooted in the U.S correctional system. A beloved friend of mine, Eugene Genius, continues to languish in jail despite being wrongfully convicted. This is a man loved by many, unjustly held behind bars, and like so many, is yearning for the chance to return home and contribute positively to society.
It's a well-documented truth that about 1% to 5% of all U.S convictions involve wrongful convictions. This according to a report by the National Academy of Sciences. Yet, every one of these wrongful convictions represents an individual, a human being like Eugene, who day by day is being denied of their freedom and their right to a fair trial.
While in prison, Eugene has taken deliberate steps towards self-improvement and rehabilitation. He has earned several certifications which should be put to good use outside prison walls, offering him the opportunity to grow into the respectable man he is determined to become. Such personal reform should not go unnoticed nor unrewarded.
The incarceration of Eugene is not just a deeply personal matter; it significantly contributes to the distressing statistic of 2.3 million people incarcerated in the U.S, a sizable proportion of whom might be there due to wrongful convictions. Against this backdrop, our appeal goes beyond Eugene to shine a light on a flawed system that perennially disrupts lives and tears families apart.
We call upon you to join us in standing up for justice. Help Eugene get the freedom he deserves. Let's ensure that our loved ones do not suffer from silent injustice.
Sign this petition. Bring Eugene home.
