Release Elderly Dying Prisoners

Release Elderly Dying Prisoners
The Issue
My father has been serving a life sentence in prison for almost 50 years. The circumstances of his conviction are public and I'm not here to prove his innocence or broadcast his remorse for his past. I'm hoping to shed some light on how loved ones are impacted when prisoners are dying alone. My 70-year-old father is dying of cancer and I am unable to provide care for him because the request for a medical parole was denied. He is debilitated, he's unable to walk or move in the hospital bed without assistance. He can not feed, bathe or clothe himself. He was transferred from the prison hospital to a local hospital where he has 2 guards watching to ensure he doesn't miraculously recover from liver cancer that has spread to his spine and escape. My family is willing to provide care for him at home at our own expense without the use of taxpayer dollars. The decision rests on the Michigan Parole Board. Our family is unable to freely visit our dying loved one. We are requesting to bring him home.
