Every day, as we, the students and teachers of Prakriya Green Wisdom School, walk past Halanayakanahalli Lake, we are greeted with the heartbreaking sight of littered shores and the diminishing presence of vibrant wildlife. This once-thriving ecosystem, nestled on Jonnasandra Road near the Sai Baba Temple, is now besieged by pollution and rampant growth of green weeds that threaten its very existence. These aren’t just mere allegations – they are the stark reality we witness daily, and we feel compelled to act now.

Halanayakanahalli Lake, with its serene beauty and ecological importance, should be a thriving habitat for numerous species of fish and birds. Instead, the excessive litter has turned this lake into a hazardous site, endangering the life forms that depend on it. The choking weeds are depleting oxygen levels, making it impossible for many aquatic creatures to survive. This severe situation is not merely an environmental tragedy but a community concern that touches our hearts deeply.

The pollution levels, which can be attributed to industrial run-off and irresponsible waste disposal, have risen alarmingly. Various studies highlight that such pollution, if not addressed, can lead to prolonged ecological damage and health hazards for nearby residents. It is a daunting challenge, but one we are committed to tackling to restore the lake to its former grace.
