As a student at the University of Vermont (UVM) and a proud Vermonter, I am deeply concerned about UVM's plan to change its tower logo into a shield. This proposed change not only alters the shade of green and the font but also drastically changes what our university will be perceived to stand for. The current logo beautifully represents UVM architecture, reflecting our campus and the surrounding Green Mountains that are integral parts of our experience here. The new shield design strips away this personal connection, replacing it with an impersonal symbol associated with war.

If UVM feels that it is time to change the logo and "rebrand", let's pick something meaningful and reflective of the amazing Vermont community. We should have a say in such a significant decision that will affect us all - students, families, community members, future students, and many others.  

By signing this petition, you are both standing up against this unnecessary change that is going to cost UVM many student's tuitions worth to rebrand, reprint merch, repaint buses...etc., and advocating for preserving the visual representation that is supposed to reflect UVM's values. 

Please help spread awareness by signing this petition and refusing to purchase any merchandise featuring the new logo. Together we can make sure our voices are heard in maintaining UVM's meaningful history instead of a washing over it with a soulless "brand refresh."
