We did it—Council voted NO on Rowan Ranch rezoning 🎉

Neighbors and friends,

We did it. Last night, the Benbrook City Council unanimously denied the Rowan Ranch rezoning request—after 200+ of you packed the room and nearly two hours of steady public comments. For the first time in Benbrook’s history, Council went a different direction than the Planning & Zoning recommendation. That happened because you showed up, spoke up, wore green, wrote letters, shared posts, gathered signatures, put signs in your yard, held signs up during rush hour, knocked on doors  and stood together.  

Thank you to every neighbor and concerned friends who came, every speaker who used their 3 minutes, everyone who helped with petitions, data, maps, signs, rides, childcare, drove hours, stayed up way past our bed times :),  stayed calm and gave fact-based advocacy.   I do want to thank City Council for listening and doing the right thing last night. This was a true community effort—and it worked. 

We’ll share next steps in the coming days to keep protecting Mary’s Creek and maintaining sensible, safe land use. I am sure the fight isn't over but let's take deep breath and enjoy this well deserved victory!
