Benbrook Zoning and Planning Commission voted to deny Rowan Ranch last night

Benbrook Zoning and Planning Commission voted to deny Rowan Ranch (the developer's) proposed changes to the land use map last night (All 152+ acres of it).  As well as deny them on a waiver to be allowed to resubmit for zoning changes.  

Just want to thank everyone who came out, those that sent emails and called the city planner.  You all had impact on this and your voices have been heard.  Being involved really does matter.  This wouldn't have happened without your involvement.  I also want to thank the City Staff and the Commissioners who voted.  I know a lot are skeptical of city government and for good reason.  But in this case I am glad to live in Benbrook.  They have listened and they have voted in favor of their community….  

However, I am sure this won't be the last time however :( .

There has also been a lot of folks reaching out to me to understand the process and where things stand etc.  It is complicated and I have learned more about than I ever cared too, however I believe it is important if we want to be an informed community.   On that note I am talking with some on the best way to do this and I am happy to help lead this.  In the coming days and weeks I will try to follow up with how I think best to do this.  Mainly because we have at least 3 neighborhoods and neighborhood facebook pages this all impacts.  Stay tuned and keep watch for anything.  That is how I got wind of this latest update.  Don’t hesitate to reach out and I will do my best to keep people up to date.  Thanks
