As parents faced with an impending change in our daily routine, we want to emphasize how deeply the proposed location change of the Sundance Bus C, north Cranston stop affects our family. This small logistical change increases our walking distance from a manageable 250m to a challenging 850m. This commutes our relatively simple school morning into a logistical problem as we juggle to take our children to different bus stops due to time constraints. With this new bus stop, we would not have time to take both our kids to their morning bus stops, and even if we did, it would take us one hour of walking to do so!

Changing the bus stop location imposes on not only our family but on many families within our community. The further walking distance could be a safety issue, especially during the colder months and could potentially impact the punctuality and attendance of students who rely on this service.

There are environmental implications to this dilemma as well. As more parents are forced to drive their children further to this new bus stop, or to the school directly, this would undoubtedly increase the carbon footprint of our community. Traffic congestion would potentially escalate, with it the risk of accidents. 

The new bus stop location is also directly in front of main entrance of a school, which is already busy and could create an even bigger safety concern than with the current location! Not to mention, that now our kids would need to cross the busiest street in Cranston incurring more risk walking/driving to and from the bus stop.

It seems this location change was triggered from people living in this area complaining of congestion as a result of a newly charted school bus stop created for First Student Bus services taking kids to Le Roi Daniels, which is a CBE School. The additional bus stop is at the same location and time, causing vehicles to park in cross walks and no parking zones. I have contacted First Student Bus services to provide this feedback at: https://firstfeedback.com/. They have indicated that CBE Transportation are the ones who created this stop.

We kindly urge those in charge to reconsider this planned relocate. Please realize the ramifications that this one change can impose on families like ours.
