Reject the federal voucher plan draining funds from public schools

Reject the federal voucher plan draining funds from public schools
The Issue
Our public schools are the heart of our communities. They educate nearly 90% of our nation’s children, often with too few resources and not enough support. Now, a new federal plan threatens to make things even worse.
House Republicans are pushing a proposal to set aside up to $5 billion a year in taxpayer-funded “scholarships” for private and religious schools. Under the guise of “school choice,” this plan would allow wealthy donors and investors to funnel money into private institutions — while public schools face funding cuts, overcrowded classrooms, and the loss of essential programs.
The promise of public education is being quietly dismantled. These tax-credit vouchers would not only shift public money into private hands, they would accelerate a two-tier education system: one for families who can afford private options, and another for the rest of us who rely on public schools.
We should be investing in better teachers, safer classrooms, and expanded student services — not redirecting funds toward private agendas.
If we don't stop this now, we risk deepening educational inequality and undercutting the schools that serve the majority of America’s children.
Sign this petition to tell Congress: Our public schools need more support, not less. Reject the $5 billion voucher plan now.
