REJECT SOCIAL HEALTH AUTHORITY IN KENYA.

The Issue

Am a kenyan citizen.

Previously in our country we had a working health cover known as NHIF but our president changed all that introduced a new health scheme that has been so dismal in performance yet charges exorbitantly.

Having personally experienced the hardships posed by our national health insurance system, I am compelled to speak out. My family member has been admitted to a hospital, and we are facing exorbitant charges due to the failures of our current Social Health Authority. This situation is not unique to us—many citizens are subjected to the financial burden of healthcare costs that should be alleviated by government initiatives, mind you the government is changing rates with a snap of it's fingers without consulting the public..

The purpose of national health insurance is to provide affordable and accessible healthcare to all citizens, ensuring that no one is denied essential medical services due to inability to pay. Instead, our existing system is riddled with inefficiencies, impunity, and prohibitive costs that leave many patients and their families in distress.

Consider the potential benefits if our national health insurance were reformed to offer effective and comprehensive coverage. It would mean medical attention without the worry of incurring insurmountable debt, better allocation of resources, and ultimately a healthier and happier population.

What we propose is a complete reevaluation and restructuring of our national health insurance framework. This involves:

1. Implementing transparent pricing structures that prevent hospitals from exploiting patients with undue charges.
2. Establishing a more stringent regulation and oversight body to eradicate impunity within the system.
3. Increasing funding to ensure broader coverage and reduced out-of-pocket expenses for all citizens.
4. Encouraging public participation in policy-making decisions concerning health insurance to reflect the true needs of the population.

These changes are not just necessary; they are urgent. With mounting healthcare costs, the burden on families continues to grow, and with it, their hardships. Our health system should be a sanctuary, not a source of stress and financial strain.

Our government holds the power to make these changes and to ensure that every citizen has access to affordable and quality healthcare. Petitions and public outcry have led to reforms in the past, and we believe that with your support, we can do it again. Sign this petition to demand a better, more equitable national health insurance coverage for everyone.
