URGENT PETITION TO BAY WINDS PLANNED UNIT DEVELOPMENT (PUD) BOARD (including Boca Winds, Ashley Park and Boca Falls) TO REJECT THE PROPOSAL TO INSTALL RECLAIMED WATER LINES FROM BROWARD COUNTY INTO OUR COMMUNITY!

We, the HOMEOWNERS and ASSOCIATION MEMBERS in the Bay Winds PUD, demand that the Board Members REJECT the proposed installation of reclaimed water lines from Broward County into our community.

If the Board accepts the proposal, all homeowners and association Members will pay a fee to have reclaimed water pumped into our lakes and used in the irrigation of landscapes throughout our community. This reclaimed water irrigation includes lawns and landscapes of homes with sprinkler systems that draw water from our lakes.

Reclaimed water used in our communities will seriously impact our health and negatively affect the property values of our homes.

Reclaimed water is waste water from households, schools, hospitals, offices, commercial buildings, and industrial facilities which has been disinfected and treated to remove some impurities, but not all.

Major concerns include:

1) Reclaimed water is not safe for human consumption. Reclaimed water can pollute our drinking water by contaminating places where reclaimed water can enter our drinking water system through cross connections.

2) Reclaimed water should NOT be used anywhere near our homes, backyards, pools, patios, lawns, playgrounds, parks, schools etc. Skin contact with our children, pets, ourselves and breathing airborne bacteria and chemicals from reclaimed water must be banned from our community.

3) Reclaimed water will pollute our air with a foul smell.

4) Reclaimed water used in our community will reduce the property values of our homes.

With this petition, we, the following listed homeowners association members in the Bay Winds PUD demand that the board finally reject this proposal.
