Reject Perth High School's Uniform Policy Change
The Issue

Click here to see a news article related to this issue As someone with sensory issues, the recent mandatory blazer policy at Perth High School poses significant challenges to my comfort and learning experience. The requirement for all students to wear blazers and the concurrent ban on leggings may seem minor to some, but for many of us, it presents profound discomfort and distress. Not to mention the unnecessary expense for a blazer that is not only uncomfortable but not warm or waterproof.
Uniforms should enhance learning experiences by providing simplicity and removing distractions, yet this policy seems to do the opposite by introducing elements that could lead to frustration and impede academic focus.
Moreover, the lack of student involvement in the decision-making process is concerning . Students themselves, who are directly affected by these changes, have had little to no input in the discussions surrounding this new policy. Such decisions disregard the everyday experiences and needs of the student body.
Perth High School has a duty to ensure that all students can learn in a comfortable and conducive environment and blazers seem like an unnecessary mandatory addition.By dismissing the concerns of students over their attire, the school risks alienating and distressing a considerable portion of students.
We need to push for a return to a uniform policy that is flexible, inclusive, and considerate of the diverse needs of all its students. Sign this petition to call for reevaluation of the new uniform policys approach to student attire at Perth High School.
