As a resident of Sharnbrook, I have always cherished the village's unique rural character and historic charm. The recent proposal by Hill Farm to build a large-scale housing development within our beloved village threatens to alter its essence irreparably.

Sharnbrook's identity is deeply rooted in its tranquil landscape and the sense of community that thrives within its boundaries. Introducing yet another massive housing project does not complement this idyllic setting. The proposal threatens to overshadow the village's rich history and disrupt its harmonious environment. 

Additionally, the infrastructure of Sharnbrook is not equipped to accommodate the increased population that such a development would bring. The roads, schools, and healthcare facilities are already stretched thin and would struggle to meet the demands of an influx of new residents. This would not only affect Sharnbrook but also have a ripple effect on the surrounding areas, diminishing the quality of life for current residents.

Furthermore, this proposal stands to endanger local wildlife and green spaces, which are vital to the ecosystem and contribute to the village's natural beauty. The rural landscape that we all value for leisure and recreation could be transformed into an expanse of concrete and tarmac.

The significance of preserving Sharnbrook's village character cannot be overstated. I urge the Bedford Borough Council to consider alternative development plans that respect our community's values and historical context. Town planning should prioritize sustainable growth that aligns with the needs of local residents, without compromising our heritage. We already have 500 houses being constructed in our village - which is already impacting us all.
