Congratulations to all the Citizens and the three Commissioners who devoted their time, talent and efforts to defeat the WAVE. As for Robert Mckenzie, we expect him to vote for any development project where he might hope to personally benefit just as he did with Bahia Mar. But Heather Moraitis’ vote FOR the WAVE was a disgrace and embarrassment to her District, the Citizens of Fort Lauderale and the Conservative values of the Republican Party which she is supposed to represent. She was obviously not listening to the Citizen presentations during the meeting. Her head was buried in papers where she sat at the dais, apparently rehearsing for her futile and nonsensical presentation in support of the WAVE. Her political future deserves to be in great jeopardy as a result of her sad and disappointing performance tonight. In her presentation she even admitted to agreeing with Representatives Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Ted Deutsch in their SUPPORT of the WAVE in total defiance of the wishes of the majority of Fort Lauderdale Citizens. DWS went on record as threatening that Fort Lauderdake would jeopardize future federal funding if the WAVE was cancelled. In contrast, Congressional candidate, Javier Manjarres, running to unseat Representative Ted Deutsch, has been vehemently opposed to the WAVE having been a resident of Flagler Village and has vowed to make sure, when elected, to fight for every dollar of federal infrastructure spending for Fort Lauderdale and the rest of his District.
