#Maharashtra: IAS officer #Tukaram Mundhe suddenly got transferred from Health services within two months, the transfer order did not mention Mundhe's next posting. The transfer order came just a week after Mundhe pulled up government Doctors who are not reporting for their jobs at public health centers, instead opting to practice at their private clinics. He has also asked Deputy Directors of the state to prepare the list of such Doctors deduct the pay who failed to report their government jobs. After taking charge in October, Mr. Mundhe instructed the district health officers, civil surgeons and deputy directors of health across Maharashtra to conduct surprise visits at the primary health centers and rural hospitals to check whether the staff was present at the health facilities and whether emergencies were being attended to during the late-night hours to save the life of patients. Mr. Mundhe had also issued a circular to health department staffers regarding office discipline. The circular stated that wages of health department staffers will not be paid unless the days worked are verified as per the biometric attendance system. To ensure swift response to emergency cases, doctors were also instructed to stay within the hospital complex or within 2 kilometers of the care center. Mr. Mundhe also launched video calls with health officers every Monday to ask them to conduct surprise inspections at hospitals to check absenteeism. This step was taken to improve the health system in Maharashtra-INDIA.

Many doctors’ associations were upset with style of functioning by Mr. Tukaram Mundhe, even Maharashtra Health Minister Mr. Tanaji Sawant himself was upset that Mundhe would not take his calls on his cell phone, so Mr. Sawant filed official complaint to CM Maharashtra on 14.11.2022, CM Mr. Eknath Shinde sought a report from chief secretary, CMO asked principal secretary (health) Mr. Sanjay Khandare to seek Mundhe’s response to the letter. Sources in the government said that Mundhe was transferred the same day he submitted his reply to the health department. 

As per law civil services board headed by a chief secretary & other IAS officer is having the judicial power to deal with the complaint & transfer of IAS officers in the state of Maharashtra but in this case, laws were overruled by State Health Minister Mr. Tanaji Sawant to benefit the lobby. It is how good governance get badly affected because of arbitrary and unofficial Transfer of good IAS officers.

On 12 Dec’22 Ambernath Citizens Forum (ACF) Members Meet Add CS Mr.Nitin Gadre (IAS) from CM office and submitted 1555 written complaint against illegal transfer requesting him to reinstatement of IAS Tukaram Mundhe in Commissioner Family Welfare & Director National Health Mission Maharashtra.

Prayer: 

1.    Citizens demand strict action against Maharashtra Health Minister Mr. Tanaji Sawant for misusing his post to benefit the lobby by risking the Citizens life. 

2.    We request PM Shri. Narendra Modi & CM Shri. Eknath Shinde Maharashtra to order for reinstatement of Mr. Tukaram Mundhe (IAS) in Commissioner Family Welfare & Director National Health Mission Maharashtra.
