Reinstate Wrongfully Dismissed Employee at USPS

Reinstate Wrongfully Dismissed Employee at USPS

The Issue

I am a single mother, striving each day to provide for my child in Jackson, MS. I was unfairly dismissed from my warehouse job for an accident - I rolled slightly into the exit gate. My employers used my current 90-day probation period as an excuse for my termination. This is unjust because there have been individuals who've performed worse actions during their 90-day probation period but are still employed with the company.

This selective enforcement of rules is not only unfair but also disrupts my efforts to establish financial stability for my child as a single parent. Dismissal for a minor mistake, that did not cause any significant damage or harm, is disproportionate and unfair employment practice.

It is worth noting that in the state of Mississippi, 36% of families are headed by single mothers. The majority of these families, nearly 33%, live below the poverty line (reference: US Census Bureau). This highlights the vital nature of job stability for single mothers.

Unemployment supply chain repercussions can lead to poverty, trapping families in a cycle that is nearly impossible to break out of. I am willing to take full responsibility for my actions but I believe that my punishment does not fit the crime.

Therefore, this petition calls upon my employers to reevaluate their decision and to consider the wider socio-economic consequences of their actions. It's time to advocate for fair practices within companies that acknowledge the realities of single parenting. Please share and sign this petition to advocate for fair employment practices.

Sign this petition to demand my reinstatement and to help create a more equitable workplace environment for all single parents.
