I am compelled to speak because those I speak for, cannot. The wolves, magnificent creatures and integral parts of our ecosystem, are losing their homes and their lives at an alarming pace. Our encroachment on wolf territory has led to a significant dip in their population. Their voices are being silenced, and their rightful homes are being taken away. They were once protected, but that protection has been unjustly stripped away.

According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature, wolf populations are decreasing globally. Wolves, the beautiful icons of our wilderness, not just the symbols of our wilderness, but an essential contributor to its health and balance, are at risk. We have a responsibility, as those who took away their safe space to begin with, to protect them.

We ask policymakers to reinstate wolves on the protection list, to reestablish their sanctity, and to make a stand not just for the wolves, but for the environment and biodiversity at large.
