We, the students of UNCW, request that the University of North Carolina Wilmington reconsider and rework the recent changes to the daily operations of our diversity centers. We acknowledge the UNC Board of Governors’ decision but question the way the University has complied with this order by reducing our multicultural staff. The actions that were taken were unnecessary. Other institutions such as NCSU created a less extreme plan. Why was such drastic action taken when it was not needed?

We demand that all of our cultural staff be reinstated. We demand a detailed explanation of why these decisions were made. We demand that Chancellor Volety meet with diverse student leaders to discuss these issues. We will only accept a response directly from the Chancellor himself.
