I am a lifelong fan of the National Football League (NFL), having grown up watching games in Naperville, IL. Like many others, I have noticed a significant shift in the league's rules over the years. This petition seeks to urge the NFL to consider reinstating some of its traditional rules to preserve the authenticity and intensity that originally drew us into this beloved sport.

Over time, changes have been made with an aim to protect players from injury and make games more viewer-friendly. However, these changes have also led some fans to perceive the game as becoming 'softer'. According to a 2019 survey by The Athletic, 53% of NFL fans believe that rule changes are making football less enjoyable.

We respect and understand the need for player safety. Yet we believe there is room for dialogue about how this can be balanced with maintaining the spirit and challenge of our cherished game. We propose that former players be involved in decision-making processes regarding rule changes as they possess firsthand experience of playing under different sets of rules.

The passion we feel for football is deeply personal; it's not just about watching athletes on TV but about being part of a community united by love for this sport. Let's bring back our authentic NFL experience while still ensuring player safety.
