The Issue

For three years, the music kids at Randolph Middle School have eagerly awaited their promised trip to Dorney Park. This annual tradition, at the end of 8th grade, is more than just a trip – it symbolizes years of hard work, practice, and dedication to music. Imagine the shock and disappointment when these students were abruptly pulled out of lunch and informed, with no prior warning, that their much-anticipated trip was canceled.

The reason given was the administration's desire to save funds for a Disney trip next year, intended for high school students. However, most of these middle school students will not be continuing music in high school, and many will attend different schools altogether. The promised trip to Dorney Park was their opportunity to celebrate their achievements with friends and fellow musicians before moving on.

It has come to light that the funds from the String Fest – amounts these music kids and their families helped raise – are available, yet remain unused for this purpose. Holding back this trip under the pretext of saving for future events is not only unfair but deeply disappointing to those who have held up their end of the promise.

We're calling on the Randolph Middle School administration to honor their commitment to these talented students and reinstate their trip to Dorney Park. These students deserve their promised celebration. It's about keeping promises and valuing the dedication these young musicians have shown over the years.

Sign this petition to stand with us in ensuring our music students receive the appreciation and recognition they deserve. Let’s restore their well-deserved trip to Dorney Park. Together, we can uphold the tradition and celebrate the spirit of music in our community.
