My middle school math teacher, Mr Milani, was not the person I believed him to be. His disturbing remarks and inappropriate conduct, including calling a friend a "good girl" in an unsettling manner, have scarred our beneficial learning environment. It's deeply unsettling to recall how we had once sat at his desk, oblivious to his true nature. It is now hard for me and my friends to feel comfortable and work with male teachers. 

The unsettling reality is that Mr. Milani is not alone in his behavior. Studies have found that 1 in 10 students have experienced educators who violate boundaries or act unprofessionally. This is not merely an isolated incident but a systemic issue that needs addressing. In an environment meant for learning and growth, it is abhorrent that such behavior is swept under the carpet ([source: American Association of University Women]).

That is far from the worst thing Mr. Milani has done though.

Re-incarceration of Mr. Milani is not just about delivering justice to him, but it also sends a strong message to other predatory educators that such actions will not go unpunished. Let's work together to protect students everywhere from abusive conduct.
