Reinstate the Previous RAFAC Rifle Syllabus for Accurate Skill Recognition
The Issue
As someone personally affected by the recent changes in the RAFAC rifle syllabus, I understand firsthand how these modifications have oversimplified our training system. The current qualifications do not accurately reflect an individual's ability nor the specific rifle they are trained in. This is particularly evident when considering that a person trained on the highly sought-after L81 would receive the same badge as someone trained on an air rifle. This is blasphemous and will not stand.
The previous syllabus was more comprehensive and provided a better reflection of each cadet's capabilities. It recognized that different rifles require different skills and levels of expertise, something which has been lost in this new system.
According to data from RAFAC (Royal Air Force Air Cadets), there has been a significant increase in cadets passing their qualifications since this change was implemented. However, this does not necessarily indicate improved skill or proficiency, but rather reflects a lowered standard of achievement.
We believe that reverting back to the old qualifications will restore integrity and accuracy to our training program, ensuring each cadet receives recognition commensurate with their actual abilities and specific training. Please sign this petition if you support reinstating the previous RAFAC rifle syllabus for accurate skill recognition.
