The residents of Albany, New York and I continue to grapple with a crucial issue: the unjust decrease in the speed limit. Our city, contrary to NYC with its efficient and relied-upon public transport system, bears a significant dependence on vehicle-based transport. The recent change of speed limit to 25 mph has brought about significant alterations in our traffic flow and is simply not appropriate for roadways designed for travel at 30 mph.

Sadly, the present speed limit has paved the way for speed traps due to inconsistencies in speed limit signage. This situation lends itself to a safety hazard for drivers who are trying to comply with the new limit, yet they find themselves in areas that have not yet undergone the signage update.

Furthermore, our city has experienced increasingly congested traffic, a problem exacerbated by the new speed limit. Therefore, it is not just a question of comfort and convenience, but one of safety and efficiency.

In light of these pressing concerns, we raise this petition to call upon our local officials to acknowledge this prevailing issue and reinstate the previous speed limit of 30 mph.
