Reinstate the Phi Mu Sorority Hand Sign for Chapter Representation

Reinstate the Phi Mu Sorority Hand Sign for Chapter Representation
The Issue
As a proud member of Phi Mu, I am deeply saddened and frustrated by the disaffiliation of our unique hand sign in 2020. This sign is not just a symbol, but an emblem of unity and pride that binds us as members across the nation. It is a representation of our chapter's distinct identity and solidarity.
Phi Mu is a diverse group with members from various races and backgrounds. We respect all cultures and strive to promote inclusivity within our sorority. The disaffiliation was due to concerns about cultural appropriation, yet multicultural sororities and fraternities across the nation have expressed no offense towards our hand sign.
In today's society where inclusivity has become more prevalent, it seems only fair that we should be allowed to express ourselves through this hand sign once again. Other sororities and fraternities are permitted their unique signs; why should Phi Mu be any different?
This issue goes beyond politics or race - it's about preserving an integral part of our chapter’s identity while respecting cultural diversity. We believe in creating an environment where every member feels valued, included, and represented.
Let us bring back this tradition that means so much to us all as Phi Mu sisters. Please support this cause by signing this petition to reinstate the Phi Mu Sorority Hand Sign for Chapter Representation.
