Reinstate the morning drop-off car line at Haviland School

Reinstate the morning drop-off car line at Haviland School
The Issue
As a parent with child/children attending Haviland Avenue School in Audubon, NJ, I find it incredibly challenging and concerning that the morning drop-off car line has been discontinued. Many parents, like myself, face the tough situation of having children of varying ages and needs. Some families have younger children who are not yet in school and require constant supervision, making it difficult to manage the morning routine without the convenience of a safe drop-off system.
Presently, our young children, most of whom are in kindergarten through 2nd grade, are forced to navigate busy streets, crossing multiple lanes of traffic to reach the school building. This situation raises significant safety concerns, as little ones are exposed to the hazards of morning rush hour traffic, including hurried drivers and unpredictable weather conditions.
The previous drop-off system at Haviland served as a secure and efficient way for parents to ensure their children arrived safely at school. Reinstating the drop-off line would alleviate the stress for families with multiple children, ensuring that parents do not have to leave infants or toddlers unattended in vehicles or maneuver them across busy streets.
Furthermore, the morning routine is critical to a child's school day. A stressful or chaotic start can affect their learning and emotional stability. By reinstating the car line, we promote not only safety but also a smoother transition into the school day, fostering a better learning environment.
For these reasons, I urge the school administration and local authorities to reconsider the decision and bring back the morning drop-off car line at Haviland Avenue School. This change will greatly benefit the safety and well-being of our children, as well as the peace of mind of parents throughout our community.
I invite caring parents and concerned community members of Audubon, NJ, to sign this petition. Together, we can advocate for the safety and convenience of our children. Please join me in making a difference.
