Reinstate the Mecha Club at Mt. Whitney High School

Reinstate the Mecha Club at Mt. Whitney High School
The Issue
I am a passionate advocate for education and community involvement, particularly within our Hispanic/Chicano community in Visalia, CA. The Mecha Club at Mt. Whitney High School has been instrumental in preparing us for college and beyond. Unfortunately, this vital resource has been discontinued.
The club not only provided academic support but also fostered a sense of belonging among its members. It was a place where we could celebrate our culture while also focusing on our future educational goals.
Statistics show that students who participate in extracurricular activities like the Mecha Club have higher academic achievement rates (National Center for Education Statistics). These clubs provide students with opportunities to develop leadership skills, improve their grades, and increase their chances of attending college.
Moreover, considering that Hispanics represent 54% of the population in Visalia (U.S Census Bureau), it is crucial to have resources like the Mecha Club that cater specifically to this demographic's needs.
By signing this petition, you are supporting the reinstatement of the Mecha Club at Mt. Whitney High School—a step towards promoting diversity and inclusivity within our school system while ensuring better educational outcomes for Hispanic/Chicano students.
