Reinstate the JROTC Program at Culver City High School

The Issue

The students of Culver City High School insist on reinstating the JROTC (Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps) program. JROTC seeks to improve the development of citizens and teach people skills that are useful in real life situations all the while making students more college-ready. Learn about your rights, responsibilities, and privileges as American citizens as well as career paths in the army. Cadets receive educational classes on leadership, drill instruction and ceremonies, military customs, uniform inspections, physical fitness training, marksmanship, and military history.

Starting a JROTC program not only offers a no-commitment course on an introduction to the army, but it brings more honor and respect to the school as a whole. Due to the controversy on ROTC programs, I'd like to emphasize that this program is not for recruiting for the army, but for giving teenagers a sense of self-respect and purpose. As stated in the official JROTC overview; Additionally, it is essential to note that being in JROTC does not obligate you in any way to enlist in the military. The junior-level program for high school students is about creating good citizens.
