Americans deserve a justice system that operates by facts, not politics.

The Associated Press has confirmed a second wave of FBI firings targeting agents and supervisors who worked on investigations into Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

These terminations came even after Washington’s top federal prosecutor reportedly urged Director Kash Patel to halt at least some of them.

According to the FBI Agents Association, these dismissals show “chaos that occurs when long-standing policies and processes are ignored.” Agents who carried out lawful investigations — simply doing their jobs — should never be punished for political reasons.

If FBI agents can lose their careers for investigating a powerful figure, then the independence of law enforcement is at risk. The rule of law must protect every investigator from retaliation, no matter which party holds power.

This petition calls on:

• FBI Director Kash Patel to immediately reinstate all agents and supervisors fired in this second wave of dismissals linked to the Trump investigation.
• Attorney General Pam Bondi to appoint an independent review panel to examine all recent personnel actions at the FBI for political interference.
• Congress’s House and Senate Judiciary Committees to hold bipartisan oversight hearings ensuring agents can perform their duties without fear of retribution.
   

Federal agents swear an oath to uphold the Constitution, not to protect or punish any one political figure. Reinstating those wrongfully dismissed would reaffirm that the United States stands for equal justice under law — not selective loyalty.
