Reinstate the Classic 1950s Diner Theme at Steak 'n Shake

The Issue

As a longtime patron and admirer of Steak 'n Shake, I am deeply saddened by the company's recent decision to abandon its iconic 1950s diner theme. This theme was not just a design choice, but a symbol of the brand's rich heritage that dates back to February 1934 when it was founded in Normal, Illinois by Gus Belt.

Belt pioneered the concept of premium burgers and milkshakes, setting Steak 'n Shake apart from other fast-food chains. The red vinyl seating, retro photos and advertising on the walls were more than mere decorations; they were reminders of an era when dining out was an experience to be savored.

Over its 85-year history, Steak 'n Shake has become synonymous with this nostalgic aesthetic. However, over the past two years, all these iconic elements that made Steak 'n Shake special have been systematically removed.

This isn't just about preserving a look – it's about honoring our shared history and maintaining what makes Steak n' Shake unique in an increasingly homogenized industry.

We urge you to reconsider this decision and restore the classic 1950s diner theme that has been integral to your brand identity for decades. Please sign this petition if you believe in preserving tradition while enjoying great food at our beloved Steak n' Shake. burger joint.  No more 50s décor, no more jukeboxes, no more anything.  They may perceive this to be an attempt to win over a younger demographic, but the reality is that plenty of Millennials (myself included) like the retro theme and don't mind going to a place like that.  There are precious few restaurants, especially chain restaurants, that have recreated the 50s diner feel quite as well as Steak n Shake and we want all of the things that made it a unique dining experience to come back.  Please sign any time and Between now and of  late Decmber  29 th of  2031 Please .
