Reinstate Senior Banners at Lowell High's Athletic Facilities

Reinstate Senior Banners at Lowell High's Athletic Facilities
The Issue
As a Lowell HS Alumni, I can attest to the impact Red Devil Pride has had in my life, most importantly as a parent. Spending Friday nights under the lights at the Inferno used to be the highlight of this entire town's week. Our Devils played smash-mouth football, on a grass field, with a janky scoreboard, but the spirit within that stadium was electric. RDP is a culture, not a facility. No dollar amount of coated steel should supersede RDP traditions. Let these athletes have their moment to shine.
The decision to ban hanging senior banners and decor around the athletic facilities is a step back from what truly makes Lowell unique. Our town has always been built on traditions, many of which current residents grew up participating in. These traditions aren't just events, they are memories and experiences that shape our community's identity and unity.
While new athletic facilities are nice to have, they should not replace the essence of what makes the Inferno "The Inferno”. It’s the school spirit and the traditions held within our athletes' hearts that make them Devils, and these symbols deserve to be recognized and celebrated.
Senior banners and decorations around the athletic facilities serve as a tangible reminder of our community spirit and school pride. They honor the incredible achievements of our student athletes and keep the legacy of RDP alive for future generations. These visual representations aren't merely decorations; they are the heartbeat of our school's cultural tradition.
We urge reconsideration of the decision and allow the return of senior banners and decorations. By doing so, you will honor the rich traditions that have been cherished by countless alumni, students, and residents of Lowell, IN. Let us preserve the traditions that celebrate our past, honor our present, and inspire our future.
Please, sign this petition and help us bring back the spirit and traditions that make our community special.
