Thank you to everyone continuing to support the Sandford Safety Campaign — your voices are making a real difference.
This week’s Daily Record article highlights our disappointment at South Lanarkshire Council’s decision to reject a local review of outdated road safety guidance. Instead of listening directly to parents and carers, the Council chose to hand responsibility to an external body that rarely meets.
What does this mean?
❌ No lighting, blind bends, and narrow paths alongside a 60mph road are still being considered “safe.”
❌ Parents’ and pupils’ concerns were removed from the final amendment.
❌ Local accountability has been pushed aside.
But we are not alone in this fight. ✅ Support from our MSP Màiri McAllan, Cllr Elise Frame, and Cllr Ross Clark has been strong — they continue to raise this at every level.
This campaign is about more than Sandford. It’s about ensuring children’s safety is not sacrificed for cost-cutting or box-ticking exercises.
👉 Please keep sharing the petition and our Facebook page — the louder our voices, the harder we are to ignore.
