Today I met with Màiri McAllan MSP, Cllr Elise Frame, and Cllr Ross Clark to discuss the ongoing concerns around the Sandford–Strathaven route and the removal of school transport.

✅ They have been clear in their support:

• Acknowledging the dangers of the route — narrow paths, blind bends, speeding traffic, no lighting.
• Confirming they will continue to press the Council to either reinstate school transport or deliver real safety improvements (barriers, crossings, lighting, wider paths).
• Writing directly to the Executive Director for Education to demand a review of the outdated guidance and meaningful action.
  Committing to walk the route with campaigners, to see the risks first-hand.

I have also extended an invitation to South Lanarkshire Council to join this walk, so they too can witness the conditions children are expected to face daily.

I am very grateful to Màiri, Elise, and Ross for their time, their support, and their willingness to stand with our community. Their backing strengthens this campaign and ensures the concerns of Sandford families are not ignored.
