It has come to my attention that Norfolk County Council have rejected the proposed Pedal Park which was to be located at the former RAF Coltishall site.

I am writing to you as a concerned citizen that this is in my opinion the wrong course of action. In a time when government are encouraging the population to become fit and healthy with the 'Bike to Work Scheme' why on earth would Norfolk County Council not offer a facility that is being made available by a local independent cycle store namely Pedal Revolutions.

What they are offering is a safe environment for us to bring on the next generation of cyclists which can only be a good thing. It would offer a safe environment for those looking to take the sport more seriously and compete. I am sure you have travelled the A11 on a Sunday morning and thought how dangerous it is to be holding competitive time trials there with fast moving traffic, they would no longer need to put themselves in danger to do the sport they love.

Cycling is getting more and more popular throughout Europe and there is the possibility of tourist revenue to come and ride what is expected to be the largest Pedal Park in Europe.

I would accept the argument that a science Park would bring in more jobs, if the current science parks we already had were full and had waiting lists, but we know they don't. Moreover the Pedal Park would not interfere with any commercial entity as it occupies the perimeter roads.

Please take action to reinstate the Pedal Park as soon as possible, it is an amenity that I, with many many others have been looking forward to and to cancel it is my opinion the wrong course of action
