Reinstate Quotas for Australian Children's TV Programming

The issue

Have you ever wondered why no children's gameshows or drama series exist?
If you are a millennial from Australia, you probably grew up on amazing kid drama shows such as the creepy Round The Twist and the sci-fi Spellbinder or enjoyed game shows such as A*mazing.
As we've grown older and some of us have become parents, we've all pondered the same question: Where are the equivalent shows for today's kids that we grew up with? Where are the high-quality educational game shows and magical adventures for Aussie kids? It's a concern that's been on our minds. Why isn’t there a modern Skippy, that was a Gen X show, also remade for millennials, for example.
In 2017, commercial free-to-air networks Seven Network, Nine Network and Network 10 argued that children no longer watched the C and P-classified programs produced under the Australian content quotas. The networks' executives requested to be relieved of the quotas, which they described as "heavy and restrictive" and "no longer sustainable", while stating that the obligation to produce children's content was a waste of money and resources.
Executives noted the change in children's viewing patterns to alternative television services. They suggested that the quotas be abolished and transferred to public broadcasters such as the ABC, who were still experiencing success with their children's programs.
In 2020 the government introduced a points system, that has effectively killed childrens programing today. As of today no streaming service in Australia also has no Aussie television quotes, including Aussie children quotas.
The Government's overhaul of quotas in October 2020 maintained the requirement to produce 55% of Australian content on all primary networks and 1460 hours on non-primary channels
.However, sub-quotas on drama, documentary and children's programming were removed; and replaced with a points-based system rewarding productions of higher budgets, and limiting the amount of documentaries used to meet the requirements. The updated quotas require broadcasters to reach 250 points annually, with a maximum of 50 points allowed for documentaries.
The tv networks can now pump out hours of terrible reality tv based competitions, but no longer need to produce Australian children tv shows.
I think we need these quotas back, the streaming services should also be helping fund them too!
