Hey Baldwin students,

Prom is one of the biggest moments in high school—a night full of memories, music, and magic. But this year, our school decided to cancel the tradition of prom king and queen, saying it’s to be more inclusive.

We all support inclusion and respect for every identity. But removing something meaningful to so many students isn’t the only way to be inclusive—and it shouldn’t be.

Other schools have found creative, inclusive ways to keep the tradition alive:

🏳️‍🌈 Some allow anyone to be nominated, regardless of gender.

👑 Others use gender-neutral titles or crown multiple winners.

🎉 Everyone still gets the joy of voting, cheering on friends, and celebrating together.

Right now, students at nearby schools still get to live out that exciting prom moment—why shouldn’t we? Baldwin has the chance to lead with both tradition and progress, showing that honoring all students doesn’t mean cutting out cherished experiences.
