Reinstate Prayer in Our Schools

The Issue

As a parent with children currently attending school, I am deeply concerned about the rising levels of violence and chaos that plague our educational institutions. I firmly believe that reinstating prayer in schools can provide a much-needed sense of peace, unity, and moral guidance.

In the United States, school prayer was banned by the Supreme Court in 1962 based on the principle of separation between church and state (Engel v. Vitale). However, since then we have witnessed an increase in school violence. According to The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), during the 2017–18 school year alone, there were 962,300 violent incidents recorded at U.S public schools.

While it is not suggested that these issues are solely due to a lack of prayer in schools, it is worth considering whether reinstating this practice could help foster an environment of respect and empathy amongst students.

This petition seeks to open up dialogue about bringing back moments for voluntary prayer or reflection within our education system. It's not about endorsing any specific religion but promoting values such as compassion and understanding which are universal across all faiths.

Please join me in urging our lawmakers to reconsider their stance on this issue. Sign this petition today if you believe we should explore every avenue possible towards creating safer and more harmonious learning environments for our children.
