Edison Preparatory High School recently decided to terminate its powerlifting program, drastically affecting students who were actively participating and building their mental and physical strength through this particular sport. Powerlifting, which promotes discipline, resilience, and the spirit of competition, has been a vital part of the school's sporting culture. Furthermore, according to the National Federation of State High School Associations, powerlifting fosters increased student participation in athletic activities, leading to improved overall student success rates (NFHS, 2020). We firmly believe that discontinuing the powerlifting program is a disservice to our students who reap its numerous benefits. Therefore, we call upon the school administration to rethink their decision and reinstate the powerlifting program at Edison Preparatory High School. Please sign this petition to support our cause.
