Our community in Witney, Oxfordshire has been deeply affected by a recent surge of mindless and dangerous vandalism particularly the Smiths Estate.

Residents have had homes attacked, leaving us feeling unsafe and vulnerable. We are calling for the reinstatement of local policing, including the reopening of our police station.

The closure of our police station has left a void in our community safety measures. Without immediate access to law enforcement services, response times have suffered significantly. This lack of prompt action is not only concerning but also detrimental to maintaining peace and order within our town.

Furthermore, regular patrols that once served as a deterrent for potential criminals have become scarce. The absence of these patrols has led to an increase in crime rates which is unacceptable for any community striving for safety and security.

According to data from UK Crime Stats, there is a 7% increase particularly in vandalism and anti-social behaviour which highlights the urgent need for increased policing presence within Witney particularly in the evenings. We have a right to feel safe where we live.

We implore local authorities to take immediate action by reinstating full-time policing services in Witney including reopening our police station. Let's ensure that every resident feels safe again within their own home and neighbourhood.
