Reinstate Our Community to Kellyville Public School (KPS) Catchment

The issue

Many of us live in this community (BLUE area below), brought up our kids with the dream of sending them to the highly regarded Kellyville Public School - an educational institution with a strong local reputation. Yet due to recent adjustments in school catchment areas (Effective 15/10/2024 without prior notice to the community), our houses are no longer in the KPS catchment. This sudden change has disrupted our children's education and future prospects.

We, the undersigned, are residents affected by the recent removal of our neighborhood from the Kellyville Public School (KPS) catchment. We petition NSW Department of Education to reverse this decision.

Reasons for Our Petition

  1. Our Community is NOT Part of the TOD Investigation Area
Our community does not fall within the boundaries of the NSW Government’s new high-density housing initiative or the metro precinct development area. It is unjust to reassign us from KPS, sacrificing our established neighborhoods to accommodate areas designated for high-density growth near Kellyville Metro Station.

  2. Impact on Children’s Safety
Accessing KPS from our area is safe and straightforward, with no need to cross busy roads. Removing our children’s access to KPS introduces serious safety challenges, requiring them to cross busy roads like Samantha Riley Drive (without traffic lights) and walk longer distances uphill to reach Beaumont Hills Public School.

  3. Division of Our Community
Our community has long been an integral part of the KPS catchment, naturally bounded by major roads like Samantha Riley Drive and Memorial Avenue. This reassignment disrupts a close-knit neighborhood and unfairly divides our community

  4. School Facilities Should Be Upgraded, Not Limited
To meet the needs of a growing population, we urge the NSW Government to invest in upgrading the facilities of KPS and nearby schools, expanding capacity to accommodate more local students rather than restricting access for our community.
