Elderly prisoners in their own homes - bring back the X1 bus service

Elderly prisoners in their own homes - bring back the X1 bus service
The Issue
During the pandemic the bus service to our local area ( High Earnock in Hamilton) was stopped and has never restarted.
This means that elderly, disabled and vulnerable residents have no access to local services.
Many are having to pay £15 round trip in taxi fares to visit their local GP. They are effectively prisoners in their own home, Isolated from family and friends who equally can't get to the estate because of the lack of bus services. The effect on their physical and mental health is immeasurable. The situation will only get worse for many residents as they have to give up their cars as they get older. Several of my neighbours are selling their family homes and moving closer to the town centre, in part due to the lack of a bus service.
Even the residents with cars want to see the service return due to the rising cost of fuel and the environmental impact of car usage. With the new LEZ restrictions coming into effect in June it’s is unacceptable that many have no bus service to take them to their local town centre or on to Glasgow
Scottish Bus week will be taking place shortly and we want to get your support and pressurise the local bus provider and Scottish government, who say they are committed the health and well-being of the Scottish people and the environment to reinstate this service.
