As a passionate gamer, I find myself unable to complete my gaming journey due to the removal of classic Sonic games from the "SEGA Mega Drive and Genesis classics". This decision seems driven by commercial motives, specifically to push gamers towards purchasing Sonic Origins. However, this move overlooks the value and nostalgia associated with these classic games for many players like me, it is also just a scummy business move.

Sonic the Hedgehog 1, 2, 3 & Knuckles, and CD were removed from online storefronts on May 20th 2022, and I understand that there are newer versions on “Sonic Origins” but quite a few people refuse to buy this and my reason being is because i can no longer play these games in the Sega collection game, and being in a virtual room feeling like your in the past is awesome, but without sonic it just doesn’t feel the same, if they want to boost sales on sonic origins, they could at least make it so that people get the original versions when they purchase sonic origins, giving them the option to play both versions, i don’t see why people shouldn’t be able to as it’s just unnecessary to gatekeep.

I gave the product on steam a negative review solely because of the removal of these titles, it would be positive and there would be no need for this petition had they not been removed in the first place, the game is awesome don’t get me wrong, especially with VR features which makes you feel like you’re in a world of nostalgia and all but it feels so incomplete without the sonic games.

Not to mention the fact that the sonic achievements are still there, and anyone who buys it can never 100% the game.

The only way to get these superior original versions now is by spending $100-$200 on third party keys and nobody should have to do that, it is ridiculous and unethical.

Sonic The Hedgehog was first released in 1991 on SEGA's console, becoming an instant hit and defining character for SEGA. Over time, it has grown into a beloved franchise with millions of fans worldwide. By removing these classic games from their platform, SEGA is not only denying access to an integral part of gaming history but also disregarding the preferences of its loyal fanbase.

And yes i know you can still play them on Sonic Origins but many people don’t like or want to purchase that product, people should still be able to play the original version if they want to.

We urge SEGA to reconsider this decision and bring back all the classic Sonic games to “SEGA Mega Drive and Genesis classics”. It's about preserving our shared gaming heritage while respecting player choice. Please sign this petition if you believe in our cause.
