I am a resident of Portola Springs, where we take immense pride in our community's parks and recreational facilities. Among these, the pickleball courts at Hillcrest park hold a significant place. The recent shift in their operating hours, to close at sundown, has caused dismay among many homeowners, myself included.

Hillcrest Park, along with its amenities including the pickleball courts, was constructed using funds collected from our Homeowner's Association (HOA) community fees. As members of this community, we believe we hold the right to expect extended access to such facilities; in fact, facilitating access until 10:00 PM aligns with norms observed in other parks across Irvine, where lit pickleball courts remain open till late for residents' use.

This petition aims to reverse the change and restore the original timings, i.e., from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM, for the pickleball courts use in Hillcrest park. We understand the importance of maintaining public peace and quiet, particularly during evening hours, and therefore propose to continue with good neighbour practices like keeping noise at low levels during games.
