Reinstate Mr Joe, Unfairly Dismissed from Abq School of Excellence
Reinstate Mr Joe, Unfairly Dismissed from Abq School of Excellence
The Issue
Our beloved teacher, Mr Joe, from Abq School of Excellence was unjustly fired for showing the movie “Drag me to Hell” to his 7th grade class. Mr. Joe is more than just an educator to us; he's a role model and source of positivity. His innovative approach to lessons and innate ability to make learning enjoyable for his student has often made the classroom a bright spot in our day. He worked tirelessly to make sure we, as students, were not only learning but also enjoying our time in class. For many of us, he was trailblazer with unconventional teaching methods that aided our absorption of complex content. His dismissal has left the entire 7th grade disheartened and longing for his return.
There is evidence that teachers who create relatable learning situations such as showing movies can improve student engagement and educational outcomes (Source: American Psychological Association). Mr Joe's termination based on his innovative teaching methods is hence not just a personal issue, it is an educational one.
We urge the concerned authorities at Abq School of Excellence to reconsider their decision. Engage the community, dialogue with us, consider our perspectives as the direct beneficiaries of Mr Joe's teaching strategies. We hope that our collective voices can reflect the immense support for Mr Joe and bring about his reinstatement. Please sign this petition to help bring back Mr Joe to Abq School of Excellence, for he is the measure of excellence we all aspire to achieve.
