Reinstate medical visas for Haitian children who need life-saving care

The Issue

Critically ill children are being turned away at our border—and some are dying as a result.

For years, U.S. hospitals have partnered with nonprofits in Haiti to bring children with life-threatening conditions to America for surgeries they can’t get at home. These medical trips were never political—they were about saving lives.

But now, because of a Trump-era immigration policy known as Title 42, Haitian children with serious heart conditions, cancer, and other life-threatening illnesses are being denied entry into the U.S., even when hospitals here are ready to treat them for free.

NBC News recently reported the heartbreaking case of a young girl from Haiti who was supposed to receive surgery in the U.S. Instead, after being blocked at the border, she died.

This is not who we are.

I’m calling on the Trump administration and the Department of Homeland Security to immediately reinstate humanitarian medical travel access for Haitian children in urgent need of care.

That includes restoring the system of medical visas and exemptions that allowed nonprofit groups to bring kids to the U.S. for life-saving treatment.

These children are not a threat. They are not coming for opportunity. They are coming for a chance to live.

Please join me in demanding swift action before more children are lost.
