Speaking as passionate followers of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), my friends and I have travelled across the globe to witness these riveting bouts in person. We find immense pleasure in supporting our favourite fighters, not just through cheering but also via friendly wagers. This adds that extra spark to an already exhilarating experience. However, to our disappointment, such simple joy has been removed in our home region of South Australia.

In Australia, it is illegal to bet on combat sports in several regions. This outdated law, initially put into place to prevent potential match-fixing and manipulation, no longer reflects the dynamic reality of modern MMA. The sport has grown leaps and bounds, evolved significantly, demonstrating its credibility and integrity repeatedly.

Reinstating this regulation would not only provide an enhanced experience to fans like us but also potentially provide a substantial economic stimulus to South Australia. We implore the state legislators to thoroughly reconsider this stance against betting on MMA and make the necessary amendments.
