Reinstate Legal Aid Programs for Immigrant Families in Pittsburgh

Reinstate Legal Aid Programs for Immigrant Families in Pittsburgh

The Issue

The city of Pittsburgh is home to a vibrant community of immigrants, who contribute significantly to its social and economic fabric. The recent executive order halting funding for critical legal access programs threatens the fundamental rights and due process protections of these families in Pittsburgh. These programs provide essential legal guidance to some of the most vulnerable members of our communities.

By suspending funding, the administration has left countless individuals—including children and families—without access to basic legal information, representation, and support. This decision undermines due process and exacerbates the challenges faced by immigrant communities already dealing with incredible hardship.

At the same time, we are witnessing an alarming expansion of immigrant detention centers, including the reopening of facilities in remote areas with limited access to legal resources. This combination of expanded detention and reduced legal support heightens the urgency of ensuring that individuals and families have access to justice.

We Must Act to Protect Immigrant Rights

Now more than ever, we must stand together to ensure that immigrant families can access the critical legal services they need to navigate the immigration system, advocate for their rights, and STAY TOGETHER.

By signing this petition, you are:

  • Raising awareness of the devastating impact of these funding cuts.
  • Standing in solidarity with immigrant families and legal responders.
  • Supporting efforts to safeguard due process and access to justice.
  • Together, we can ensure that our communities remain strong, compassionate, and committed to protecting the rights of everyone, regardless of immigration status
